BLACK STUDENTS' ALLIANCE (BSA)

Ross Sheppard’s Black Students Alliance was established in 2022 and aims to promote positive connection and interactions among Black students at Ross Sheppard High School. The BSA strives to provide empowerment opportunities for students through the creation of a network of support. Members are encouraged to connect culturally and socially as a means to uplift themselves and one another. Students meet on a weekly basis to discuss issues pertaining to anti-Black racism and to continuously promote Black success and excellence.

BSA’S objective is to not only foster a safe environment that is welcoming and inviting to all students in the school to discuss and explore challenges and successes as they pertain to the Black diaspora. The aim is to encourage students to become more aware of and involved with the movement for equity through overcoming social, economic, and racial inequalities as they exist within our local communities in Edmonton and around the world.
