Physical Education
Through activities in the school and community, students will explore their physical abilities and improve their fitness level. They will understand that fitness impacts well-being and body image. Communicating with others, students will develop a sense of fair play and exercise their leadership abilities. They will discover the importance of safe, active living for life, set goals, and challenge themselves as part of an active, healthy lifestyle.

Sports Medicine
Sports Medicine is perfect for anyone interested in athletics or a future career in health care. Gain knowledge related to the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Spend time in various athletic settings outside of the classroom and working directly with Shep’s athletics teams alongside a certified Athletic Therapist.

Outdoor Education
Outdoor Education explores and engages students in the outdoor environment. This course includes learning basic skills such as outdoor cooking, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, and archery to name a few. Students will gain valuable knowledge of the outdoors and take an in depth look at environmental stewardship and ecotourism.

Sports Performance
Sports Performance is designed for students to acquire and improve physical skills, fitness, and athletic performance in one of Canada’s finest facilities. Students will acquire knowledge and demonstrate proper training principles including nutrition, sport psychology, flexibility, speed, agility, quickness, goal setting, leadership and Olympic lifting. This course is perfect for anyone wanting to improve their physical fitness up to the elite athlete looking to excel at their sport. Physical Education (Soccer)
Designed for students to continue improving their physical literacy in many sports, but with a specific focus on soccer. Students will learn and demonstrate high level principles of soccer, acquire knowledge about nutrition, sports psychology, player positions, goal setting, and the general art of the sport. This course is perfect for anyone with a love for physical activity and a passion for soccer.

Take a break from your busy day to stretch, breathe and relax in our newly renovated yoga studio. Students will practice mindfulness exercises that can help improve their overall well-being. Level 1, 2 and 3 are demonstrated for each yoga pose so that students may work at their own pace. Yoga mats are provided. Everyone is welcome.
