Treaty Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux (So-toe), Blackfoot, Métis, Dene (De-nay) and Nakota Sioux (Sue). We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.

Principal's Message

Greetings to the Ross Sheppard Community!

As I enter my fifth year as Principal at Ross Sheppard High School, I am both honored and privileged to continue working alongside our dedicated staff, enthusiastic students, and supportive families. Our school's success is rooted in the strong partnerships we've built with parents and the broader community, all working together to provide a meaningful and enriching educational experience for every student. It is through these collaborative relationships that our staff are able to guide our students as they navigate their high school journey.

Ross Sheppard High School is a vibrant community of learners who rise to challenges and celebrate achievements across academics, athletics, fine arts, and service. Our motto, “WE ARE SHEP,” embodies the pride, tradition, and excellence that permeate our halls each day. We are committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment where engaged teaching and learning thrive. At Ross Sheppard, we believe every student can succeed in a space that is kind, respectful, and supportive. Our key strategies for achieving this success are centered on building strong foundational relationships with all stakeholders. The long-standing tradition that drives our reflective practice—"If better is possible, then good is not enough"—continues to foster growth and success for everyone.

The Ross Sheppard School community stands on four key pillars: Academics, Athletics, Fine Arts, and Service. Our academic programs are designed to help every learner achieve excellence, while also recognizing their individual aspirations and abilities. Our athletics program encourages all students to embody dedication, loyalty, and citizenship. Through fine arts, students are invited to explore and appreciate the world around them, fostering creativity and adaptability. Our school’s motto, Okimawitaw Otatuskewin (Mastery for Service), reflects the endless opportunities we provide for students to lead and serve both within our school and the global community.

I want to emphasize that my door is always open, and our focus is on communication that supports continuous progress. Our mandate is to ensure success for all learners, and through dedicated intervention programming and forward-looking initiatives, we strive to prepare students to tackle their future challenges. My goal is to continue providing leadership that fosters a collaborative school environment and delivers differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of every student. At Ross Sheppard High School, we take pride in making educational programs meaningful by connecting the curriculum to both past knowledge and future experiences.

On behalf of Ross Sheppard High School, I wish everyone an incredible 2024–2025 school year.

Rick Stanley

Principal

Get ready for the 2024–25 school year! Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account between February 1 and March 22 to select your child’s preferred school for next year.

Whether your child is staying at the same school or changing schools, all students need to pre-enrol. Knowing how many students to expect helps schools prepare to welcome them in September.

If you need help, contact the school or read the pre-enrolment handout

    Moved?
Update your child’s current address with the school office before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone.

    New to the Division?
Instead of using SchoolZone, students who are new to Edmonton Public Schools need to submit a completed Student Registration form. Find the form and list of supporting documents you need to provide.
